Salzburg! There is no other city so closely identified
with one musician as is Salzburg with Mozart. One feels
his presence everywhere in this captivating Baroque city
set in beautiful Alpine scenery. While Salzburg may
appear small at first glance, its cultural offerings are immense.
Our focus will be Mozart's String Quartet
in D Major, K.575
The first of the three "Prussian" quartets, this great work is lively
and great fun to play, though its difficulties are well hidden as
is often the case with Mozart’s music. By closely examining all
aspects of this quartet, we will enrich our knowledge of
Mozart’s life and music, both in Salzburg and beyond.
