These two lovely quartets, one from Haydn’s earlier period and the other written very late in his life, are both are great favorites of players. Deceptively difficult to play, together they provide an interesting context in which to experience the genius of “Papa” Haydn. The Workshops take place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and include: One-on-one coaching in quartet format A talk by Dr. David Clampitt, musicologist at Ohio State University, on historical and theoretical aspects of the work A performance of each quartet by the Manhattan String Quartet The one-day, all inclusive price of $180 for each workshop includes lunch. Due to the individual nature of the coaching and master classes, each workshop is limited to 32 participants.
These workshops are open to all players -- amateur, student, and professional. Pre-formed groups are encouraged to apply.
